Rudloe Manor is a former Royal Air Force (RAF) base located in the county of Wiltshire, in the south-west of England. The manor was originally built in the 1940s as a military hospital and was later converted into a telecommunications and intelligence center. The facility was used by the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the British intelligence agency, GCHQ, for a number of years.
The site has been associated with a number of alleged UFO sightings and conspiracy theories, particularly during the 1980s and 1990s. As of February 2023 Rudloe Manor still seems to be in use and heavily guarded. It doesn’t exactly look like what you would expect out in America in middle of the dessert built into the side of a mountain. The Manor building is all it is including underground tunnels and chambers which cover the grounds beneath.
Here’s a list of just some of the reported incidents at Rudloe Manor RAF.
- In the 1970s, there were reports of strange noises and unexplained phenomena around the base. Some people claimed to have seen strange lights in the sky or heard mysterious noises, such as humming or buzzing sounds. There were also rumors of underground tunnels and secret installations beneath the base, although these have never been confirmed.
- In the early 1990s, there were reports of unusual aerial activity near the base, including sightings of mysterious black triangles and strange lights in the sky. Some people speculated that these sightings were related to secret government projects, such as the development of advanced military aircraft or stealth technology.
- 1993 – The Rudloe Manor Incident: This incident involves a former MoD employee named Paul Ingram, who claimed to have seen a document during his time at the base that revealed the UK government’s involvement in a UFO cover-up. Ingram claimed that the document contained information on the recovery of a crashed UFO in the UK, as well as details on the bodies of alien creatures recovered from the crash site. The incident gained widespread media attention, but Ingram was later found to have fabricated the story. In 1983, Ingram was accused by his daughters of sexually abusing them and practicing satanic rituals, and he eventually confessed to the allegations after being interrogated by police. However, during the course of his interrogation, Ingram also claimed to have seen classified documents during his time at the MoD that revealed the UK government’s involvement in a UFO cover-up. He did however work at Rudloe Manor.
- 1997 – The Mystery Helicopter Incident: This incident involved the reported sighting of a mysterious black helicopter flying near Rudloe Manor. Some witnesses claimed that the helicopter had no visible markings and appeared to be unmarked or military in nature. Some UFO enthusiasts believe that the helicopter was linked to government efforts to cover up UFO sightings and information. However, the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has denied any involvement in the incident and stated that it had no knowledge of any military helicopter flights in the area at the time. The MoD also pointed out that unmarked military helicopters are not unusual and are often used for covert operations. Another group have suggested that the helicopter may have been part of a civilian operation, such as a survey or mapping project. They have noted that the surrounding area is home to a number of private companies involved in aerial surveying and other forms of aerial data collection. Despite the lack of concrete evidence or explanation for the incident, it remains a source of speculation and debate among UFO enthusiasts and conspiracy theorists. Some continue to believe that the helicopter was part of a government cover-up, while others maintain that it was likely part of a routine military or civilian operation.
Despite these reported incidents, the MoD has consistently denied any involvement in a UFO cover-up and maintains that the site was used primarily for intelligence and telecommunications purposes. The MoD has also noted that the site was decommissioned in 2000 and is now used by private companies.
Rudloe Manor entrance is located on a dead end road with no signs or markings. You would never know this place existed in a quite scenic village area.
You will also notice on Google Maps there is a strange red zone border outline all around the base area which is located in Corsham SN13 0PE. It’s also very strange that you can use street view anywhere around this red area outlined by Google. Maybe it’s for security breach reasons. One of our editors visited Rudloe Manor RAF and it seemed from a distance it’s no longer in use. However we could not be too certain as there is no way to get to the main grounds.
In 2009, the UK Ministry of Defence officially closed the RAF Rudloe Manor site, and the base was transferred to private ownership. However, some theorists have suggested that the MoD is still using the site for covert activities, such as the storage of secret documents or the development of advanced technology. It’s worth noting that many of these reports and theories are based on local hearsay. The local pubs have some good knowledge on current state of Rudloe Manor, some locals would tell you some great stories too!
Thank you very much for sharing, I learned a lot from your article. Very cool. Thanks.
